MODEC Inc. has secured a contract from ExxonMobil Guyana Ltd. to develop a Floating Manufacturing, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) vessel for the Hammerhead challenge. MODEC mentioned in a media launch the contract is a Restricted Discover to Proceed (LNTP) hinging on authorities and regulatory approvals.

The contract’s first part encompasses Entrance-Finish Engineering and Design (FEED). Part two covers engineering, procurement, building, and set up (EPCI), the corporate mentioned.

The LNTP allows MODEC to provoke actions regarding the FPSO design, aiming for the earliest potential challenge launch in 2029, contingent on receiving the required authorities approvals. The execution of the second part will depend on governmental and regulatory permissions, in addition to challenge approval from ExxonMobil and its co-venturers within the Stabroek Block, MODEC mentioned.

It mentioned that the Operations and Upkeep Enabling Settlement for its Guyana fleet has been established to allow the operations and upkeep of a number of FPSOs beneath a long-term contractual association.

The Hammerhead FPSO is deliberate to provide 150,000 barrels of oil per day, together with gasoline and water, MODEC mentioned. It is going to be anchored at about 1,025 meters (3362 toes) deep utilizing a SOFEC Unfold Mooring System. This FPSO marks MODEC’s second enterprise in Guyana, following the Errea Wittu, which is beneath building for ExxonMobil Guyana’s Uaru challenge.
