German prosecutors are investigating allegations that oil and gasoline firm Wintershall Dea misled the general public about its sustainability efforts.
The Frankfurt prosecutors’ workplace confirmed to Bloomberg Information that it has opened a continuing on the matter. Wintershall Dea is at the moment reviewing the allegations, which it believes are unfounded, spokesman Stefan Leunig mentioned by electronic mail.
The group Environmental Motion Germany (DUH) mentioned earlier Monday that prosecutors opened an investigation after it had filed a legal criticism in February claiming that Wintershall Dea violated its reporting duties relating to its environmental and local weather affect. Wintershall Dea both misrepresented or omitted legally required components in its annual report, the DUH alleged.
Prosecutors have begun preliminary proceedings towards members of Wintershall Dea’s administration and supervisory boards, the DUH mentioned in its assertion.
