Brazil’s state-owned Petróleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras), via a consortium with Shell PLC, has acquired 26 concession contracts below the fourth Everlasting Concession Provide Cycle.
The concessions had been secured throughout a public session held by the Nationwide Company of Petroleum, Pure Fuel and Biofuels (ANP) in December 2023, Petrobras mentioned in a media launch. Petrobras mentioned it has secured three different blocks in partnership with CNOOC and Shell, the contracts for which will probably be signed at a later date per the ANP’s schedule. On this partnership Petrobras will personal a 50 % stake, CNOOC Petroleum 20 %, and Shell 30 %.
The contracts strengthen Petrobras’ place as the primary operator of oil fields positioned in deep and ultra-deep waters, potentializing the recomposition of reserves for the longer term, the corporate mentioned.
Throughout the December 2023 session, 44 blocks within the Pelotas Basin had been awarded. Chevron secured 15 blocks.
