Petróleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) has accredited using its Decarbonization Fund for the set up of photovoltaic (PV) crops at its refineries.
Petrobras stated in an announcement that together with these PV crops, there are 33 tasks supported by the fund. These tasks have the potential to chop emissions by greater than 1.5 million tons of carbon dioxide per 12 months.
Photovoltaic crops shall be constructed on the Gabriel Passos (Regap) refinery in Minas Gerais, the Abreu e Lima (Rnest) refinery in Pernambuco and the Paulínia (Replan) refinery in São Paulo, Petrobras stated. The three crops could have an estimated mixed capability of 48 megawatts and are scheduled to start out working in 2025.
“The set up of photovoltaic crops built-in into the refinery technology system permits for improved integration and operational reliability, lowering gasoline consumption and, consequently, greenhouse gasoline emissions, consistent with the corporate’s strategic planning for a simply vitality transition”, stated William França da Silva, director for industrial processes and merchandise at Petrobras.
