An explosion occurred Monday at a gasoline storage facility in northern Italy owned by Eni SpA, one in all Europe’s largest suppliers of gasoline and diesel.
A truck exploded near a loading bay on the Calenzano storage website, leading to a hearth that’s now been extinguished, in line with Eni. The blaze didn’t attain tanks on the website that maintain gasoline, diesel and jet gasoline. The storage facility is linked by pipeline to Eni’s Livorno oil refinery.
Italy’s judiciary authority has opened an investigation into the explosion, in line with native media. Eni mentioned it’s cooperating with the authorities to determine the causes of the blast.
Two folks died, eight are injured, and 4 are lacking as rescue efforts are ongoing, information company Ansa reported, citing the prefecture of Florence, the place the storage website is situated. Eni mentioned its condolences are with the households of the deceased and others affected by the accident.
