Freezing climate gripping France drove up energy demand to the best since February, forcing coal-fired crops to ramp up output.

French energy demand climbed to 74 gigawatts at 11:45 a.m. native time, and is ready to peak at about 75.3 gigawatts at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, in accordance with Bloomberg forecasts. 

Temperatures in France have plunged since Christmas as an Arctic airmass dips south and brings a wave of unusually chilly climate to northern and central Europe.
