LNG Canada can have a change of management in April 2025. The corporate, a three way partnership comprised of Shell plc, Petronas PetroChina Co. Ltd., Mitsubishi Corp., and Korea Fuel Corp., stated in a media launch that Chris Cooper, at the moment LNG Canada’s Senior Vice President for Section 1 Pipeline and Growth, will succeed Jason Klein as President and Chief Government Officer efficient April 1, 2025.

Cooper brings over 35 years of expertise within the power sector. Since becoming a member of Shell in 1998, Cooper has accrued experience from his management roles in Upstream, Downstream, and LNG companies all over the world, spanning complicated challenges in initiatives, property, and business and stakeholder relationship areas, the corporate stated.

Cooper was seconded to LNG Canada from Shell plc in 2021 to steer the Coastal GasLink pipeline’s completion in collaboration with TC Power. He additionally superior Cedar LNG’s Remaining Funding Resolution in 2024 and directed LNG Canada’s Section 2 growth.

“I’m happy to proceed the journey with all these concerned in and across the LNG Canada funding. Collectively, we’re setting the benchmark for economically, environmentally, and socially accountable large-scale LNG manufacturing in Canada and making a constructive and lasting legacy with First Nations, the local people, and for British Columbia and Canada”, Cooper stated.

In response to LNG Canada, Klein will stay in place till April 1 as he prepares to take a brand new position inside Shell.

“It’s been an honor to steer LNG Canada for the previous three years as we reached main building milestones, participated in reconciliation, and continued to steadily and safely advance in direction of delivering first cargoes of made-in-BC LNG”, Klein stated.

LNG Canada stated it stays on monitor to ship its first cargoes by the center of 2025. It expects to initially produce 14 million tonnes each year (MMtpa) of liquefied pure gasoline (LNG) for export with plans to double its capability to twenty-eight MMtpa of LNG with a proposed Section 2 growth.
