ARC Secures LNG Sale to ExxonMobil Utilizing Cedar LNG Offtake

ARC Sources Ltd. stated Tuesday it has entered right into a deal to promote all of its offtake from the under-construction Cedar LNG in Canada to Exxon Mobil Corp.

The settlement entitles ExxonMobil LNG Asia-Pacific to about 1.5 million metric tons every year (MMtpa) of liquefied pure fuel (LNG). “The Settlement commences with business operations on the Cedar LNG Facility, anticipated late 2028, and continues for the time period of ARC’s liquefaction tolling providers settlement with Cedar LNG Companions LP”, Calgary, Canada-based ARC stated in a web based assertion.

Underneath the tolling providers settlement, ARC is to ship round 200 million cubic toes a day of pure fuel to Cedar LNG for liquefaction.

Cedar LNG, 50.1 % owned by the Haisla Nation with Pembina Pipeline Corp. holding the remaining 49.9 %, is deliberate to have a nameplate capability of three.3 MMtpa. It’s positioned on tribal land on Canada’s West Coast.

The venture has secured all key governmental approvals and is within the early building stage, Cedar LNG says on its web site. The companions reached a remaining funding resolution June 2024.

ARC president and chief govt Terry Anderson stated of the settlement with ExxonMobil, “At present, we have now reached a major milestone in our technique to diversify and broaden margins by participation within the world LNG market”.

“By this Settlement, we have now achieved our goal of linking roughly 25 % of our future pure fuel manufacturing to worldwide pricing”, Anderson stated.

That is ARC’s third long-term LNG-related settlement in three years that gives publicity to worldwide LNG pricing, the corporate stated.

 In 2022 it introduced an settlement to provide 140,000 million British thermal items per day (MMBtud) of pure fuel to Cheniere Power Inc.’s Corpus Christi Stage III enlargement with pricing linked to the Platts Japan Korea Marker.

In 2023 ARC introduced a second settlement with Cheniere to provide 140,000 MMBtu to the SPL enlargement venture with pricing linked to the Dutch Title Switch Facility. 

Andrew Barry, vice chairman for world LNG advertising and marketing at ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., stated, “This Settlement supplies ExxonMobil with advantaged entry to Asian LNG markets by establishing ExxonMobil’s first long-term offtake place on Canada’s Pacific Coast”.

“We sit up for working with ARC Sources, one among Canada’s largest and most skilled pure fuel producers, as we proceed to broaden and diversify ExxonMobil’s LNG portfolio and supply the lower-emissions power the world wants”, Barry added.

ExxonMobil itself has 4 LNG tasks below improvement and expects to surpass 40 MMtpa of LNG gross sales by 2030.

“The corporate expects to realize first LNG gross sales from the Golden Cross improvement in the USA and from the Qatar North Subject East enlargement venture close to the tip of 2025”, ExxonMobil stated December 11, 2024, saying plans by to 2030. “It is also concentrating on remaining funding selections at Papua New Guinea’s Papua venture in 2025 and at Mozambique’s Rovuma improvement in 2026”.
