BP PLC stated Monday it has made 11 oil and gasoline discoveries this 12 months, the newest being Volans offshore Namibia within the Orange Basin.

Operator Rhino Sources Ltd introduced October 1 a “excessive liquid-yield gasoline condensate discovery” within the Volans-1X properly in Block 2914A.

“The properly discovered 26m of internet pay in wealthy gasoline condensate-bearing reservoirs, with the reservoir exhibiting glorious high quality petrophysical properties and no noticed water contact”, Rhino stated in a press launch. “Sizzling shot laboratory evaluation on two samples (on the high and base of the reservoir interval) confirmed a excessive condensate to gasoline ratio (CGR) of >140 and a liquid density of round 40° API gravity.

“Hydrocarbon samples and sidewall cores had been collected via intensive wireline logging operations. Laboratory research will proceed to be carried out on the remainder of the fluid samples, facet wall cores and cuttings collected through the marketing campaign”.

The properly reached 4,497.5 meters (14,755.58 toes) of true vertical depth subsea (TVDSS), the Cape City-based firm stated. The properly was drilled by Northern Ocean Ltd’s semi-submersible Deepsea Mira.

“The rig was demobilized on 14 September 2025 to start drilling in one other location, whereas Volans-1X laboratory testing actions will stay ongoing”, Rhino stated.

Rhino chief government Travis Smithard stated, “Rhino, in collaboration with our companions Azule Power, NAMCOR and Korres, will now consider the outcomes of the continuing testing and combine them into blockwide prospectivity research”.

Rhino owns 42.5 p.c in Petroleum Exploration License (PEL) 85, which comprises the invention. BP participates via Luanda-based Azule Power, the British firm’s 50-50 enterprise with Italian state-controlled Eni SpA; Azule Power owns 42.5 p.c of PEL 85. The opposite companions within the block are Nationwide Petroleum Company of Namibia with a ten p.c curiosity and Korres Investments with 5 p.c.

“The Volans-1X properly marks the third vital hydrocarbon discovery in 2025 for Azule Power companions, following the Capricornus-1X mild oil discover in Namibia and the Gajajeira-01 gasoline discovery in Angola”, BP stated in a press release on its web site Monday.

“BP has made 11 exploration discoveries this 12 months throughout a number of basins, together with the Far South discovery within the Gulf of America and properly 1-BP-13-SPS on the Bumerangue block in Brazil’s Santos Basin, the place it holds one hundred pc participation”.

Saying the Capricornus-1X Decrease Cretaceous discovery in Block 2914, Rhino stated in a press release April 24, “The properly discovered 38m of internet pay, with the reservoir exhibiting good petrophysical properties and no noticed water contact”.

“The properly achieved a surface-constrained move price in extra of 11,000 stb/d on a 40/64” choke”, Rhino added. “The sunshine ~37° API oil exhibited restricted related gasoline with lower than two p.c CO2 and no hydrogen sulphide”.

Capricornus-1X, drilled by the Noble Venturer drillship, reached 4,957 meters TVDSS, Rhino stated.

On the Gajajeira-01 Decrease Oligocene discovery within the Decrease Congo Basin offshore Angola, introduced by Azule Power July 11, preliminary outcomes from wireline logging and fluid sampling indicated “over 30 meters of internet pay in reservoirs with good mobility”.

“Preliminary assessments recommend gasoline volumes in place might exceed one trillion cubic toes, with as much as 100 million barrels of related condensate”, Azule Power added. “These outcomes verify the presence of a working hydrocarbon system and open new exploration alternatives within the space.

“Azule Power will proceed to evaluate the complete potential of the Gajajeira-01 discovery and collaborate with Block 1/14 companions to find out the optimum improvement technique”.

Azule Power chief government Adriano Mongini stated, “Gajajeira-01 is the nation’s first devoted gasoline exploration properly, and its success reinforces our confidence within the potential of the Decrease Congo Basin”.

Gajajeira-01 sits in waters 95 meters deep, about 60 kilometers from the coast, in response to Azule Power.

Azule Power owns 35 p.c of Block 1/14. Norway’s state-owned Equinor ASA holds 30 p.c. Angola’s state-owned Sonangol has 25 p.c. Luanda-based Acrep SA owns the remaining 10 p.c.
